Last Day of Term 3 - A Special Visitor

Eva, her Mum and sister bought their family pet 'Lollipop' into our class so we could all meet her. She is a sweet little white dog. She was very soft and loved being patted. Lollipop was very patient when everyone wanted to talk to, and pat her. We think she may have been quite glad to go home - there were such a lot of faces for her to see!

Trying to make her look up!

A little bit shy......

She loves a cuddle! Is that a smile??

The America's Cup - A Project.

Max worked very hard at home, and completed this project.
He was sure we would win the America's Cup!
He made his own version by himself - and decided to write about it.
Wonderful work!!

Max worked very hard at home making the boat
and the next day at school wrote the procedure

exactly of how he did it.

This is the vessel he made out of an egg carton,
a straw, some paper and tape.
He even made a start and finish line.

He completed it by drawing a fern
and writing 'Emirates'
on the sail.

Bring The Cup Home!

We have been following The America's Cup. Some of the children are quite excited, and can't wait until we win that last race. (It is handy having our very own viewing room next door in the computer suite!) We decided to dedicate some of our art time today to make some collage pictures of the catamarans. We had lots of fun going through the steps. I hope the sailors find San Francisco Bay smoother sailing!

Riding high on those white caps.

Up close and personal - move over Oracle!

Those tricky winds - maybe a sail malfunction?

It's a one boat race! Sailing away ....

About to be postponed - a major shift in the
wind direction, and those pesky tides.

Time to round the last mark ....
Oracle about to get up on the foils.
Our window display - encouraging the best
 team in The America's Cup!

A Wet Lunchtime

On Thursday we had an inside lunch hour. There is only so many creations you can make with blocks! A keen group of children found the bag of empty tape rolls and the tower building began. Whaea Chris was there to help out.

Whaea Chris gives Haiden a lift as he
completes a tower.
It was getting close
to the ceiling - before it crashed down!

Lemon Honey Sandwiches

Some of the children enjoying the wholemeal
and lemon honey sandwiches.

Most children liked it - there wasn't a lot left!

As part of our Endeavour learning unit- trying new things, we made lemon honey sandwiches. First we had a guessing game. What was that thick yellow stuff?  There were all sorts of suggestions. Peanut butter, cheese sauce, passionfruit jam, butter. Only one child suggested it maybe something lemon, before it was tasted. Interestingly enough there were a few who didn't like it! We tried writing our first procedure. We had to tell a martian how to make a sandwich.

Buddy Reading for International Literacy Day

We were very eager - and our teachers decided to celebrate a love of literacy a week early (not sure how that happened!). It was a wonderful sharing time with the caring senior children in Room 18. We enjoyed it so much, we will probably do it again. Thanks Whaea Toni and your super students!!

Angela and Rosie Visit Room 25

Angela (Max's Mum) bought their family dog to school to meet us. We all had a good look at her and some of us got close enough to pat her. She is a friendly dog. Angela kept her happy with a few 'doggy' treats. We then went on to write about what we had experienced.

Rosie has a white tail. She has pointy ears and she has spots on her legs. She has sharp claws. Angela gave Rosie food. We got to pat her on the head. We were on the field. Rosie has paws. She is white and black.Rosie has fluffy fur on her back. Rosie shook Angela’s hand. I felt happy.
